Comprehensive
Care Clinic
At EVCHC we understand that living with HIV is a
highly personal and complex challenge. In order to assist you,
we offer a variety of specialized services.
At
our Comprehensive Care
Clinic services include:
- Medical
care, including pharmacy
- Case
management
- Mental
health services/support groups
- Psychiatric
services
- Nutritional
counseling
Our
Health Care Team consists of:
- Medical
Provider
who is a licensed physician with Board Certification in
Infectious Diseases and has extensive training and
experience in working with HIV/AIDS individuals.
- R.N.
(Nurse)
who works closely with patient and doctor to help patient
follow through with their medical plan. Our nurse will
take care of any specialist referrals that may be required
and will assist in obtaining any necessary health
education and information.
- Dietician/Nutritionist
who will develop personal eating plans to help patients
feel good and stay healthy. Our dietician will provide
education on coping with eating problems and food safety.
- Mental
Health Counselor
who will provide individual, couples, group or crisis
counseling. The client will be able to talk about concerns
such as coping with HIV; dealing with partners, family and
friends; and job/workplace concerns. Our counselors
understand that a healthy mind can reduce stress on your
immune system, helping you maintain a healthy body.
- Psychiatrist
- Case Manager who will assist
client in identifying needed resources and support. The
case manager will provide referrals to client for needs
such as food, shelter, financial assistance,
transportation, dental care, legal services, substance use
treatment and mental health services.
Other
support services available at EVCHC include:
- Transportation
- Food pantry (groceries)
- Emergency housing
- Benefit application assistance
- Health education counseling
and materials
- Referrals for: housing
services, treatment advocacy for medication issues, legal
aid, and muscle mass testing
HIV
Testing
EVCHC offers free anonymous, confidential, and
court-ordered HIV testing. Clients meet with trained HIV
Testing Counselors to identify personal risk behaviors and
ways to reduce their risk for HIV. Test results are ready in
5-7 days. Clients may elect to take either a blood test or an
oral test. In the near future EVCHC will be able to offer a
rapid test, for which test results will be available within 30
minutes.
Community Education
Currently
funded through the Office of AIDS Programs and Policy (OAPP),
EVCHC facilitates three prevention and education programs:
Women at Sexual Risk (WASR), Men Who Have Sex with Men/Women
(STOP), and Street Outreach to Injection Drug Users. These
presentations take place at local high schools, continuation
schools, youth camps, local community centers, and during day
and night outreach. Prevention
Case Management is offered through these programs.

at Sexual Risk (WASR):

A
six (6) hour/ 3 session program
o
Topics
include: Gender stereotypes, HIV facts, safer sex and risk
reduction.

Men
Who Have Sex with Men/ and Women (STOP):
o
A five (5) hour/ 5 session program
o
Topics include: relationships, HIV transmission, HIV and
drugs, safer sex, and risk reduction.

Prevention Case Management

Street
Outreach to Injection Drug Users: o
Active day and night street outreach
o
Distribution of bleach kits, hygiene kits, and safer sex
kits.
